Singh (Persaud), Chandrowti “Chane”, of St. Petersburg, departed this Earth on the morning of Friday, March 17, 2017. She was born in British Guiana and came to St. Petersburg in 1988 from Paterson, NJ. She was a buyer and seller at Spira’s Department Store in Paterson, NJ. Chane was the “Matriarch” of her family who worked very hard from an early age providing love and encouragement to her family and everyone that she encountered. Besides her great love for her family, one of her greatest attributes was her generosity not only to her family but to others also. After coming to Paterson, NJ, in 1972 she and her husband, Donald, opened their home to family and friends coming from Guyana to the United States. Many regarded their home at 645 14TH Avenue as the “Ellis Island” of New Jersey. She was predeceased in death by her son, Paul Singh, her husband, Surujpaul Donald Singh and her brother Komal “Popeye” Persaud. She is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law, Cliff & Suleika Singh,Tony & Jutta Singh, Mickey & Rupa Singh; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy & John Serafin, and Leta & Carl Lewis, as well as 13 grandchildren; Andre (Sabreena) Singh; Sascha (Cheryl) Singh; Christopher Singh; Erica (Dan) Guaricci; Kristen (Jonny) Rashid; Dominik (Kathryn) Singh; Amanda Singh; Nicole (Richard) Caggiano; Markus Singh; Danielle Lewis; Alyssa Lewis; Saritaa Singh; and Amesha Singh; and eight great-grandchildren, three sisters, Daya Persaud; Leila (Bahadur) Ramsarran; Sheila (Deo) Dindayal; and two brothers, Suresh (Wattie) Persaud, and Bali Persaud; and many nieces and nephews.
