Obituary of Frances C Tanis

Frances Tanis, age 99, of Haledon died Friday, October 23, 2015 at St. Joseph's Hospital And Medical Center of Paterson, NJ. Frances was born June 20, 1916 in Weehawken, NJ. She lived in Haledon most of her life and was active in many community affairs. Before her retirement she was a secretary at Manchester Regional High School in Haledon for 22 years. She was secretary to the Haledon AARP, president and secretary to the Haledon Library Board, Federation Secretary of the Manchester Woman's Club. She was also active in the Haledon PTA, 5 year chairman of the Haledon Library Story Hour, Charter member of the Evening Auxiliary of the Wayne General Hospital, Volunteer at Wayne General Hospital, Investigation Chairman of the Wayne Elks Auxiliary, Member of the Cerebral Palsy Committee of the Wayne Elks, Brownie Leader of Scout Troop #1 of Haledon, Martha Guild Member of St. Mary's Church of Haledon and a member of St. Michael's Church of Wayne. She is survived by her daughter Barbara Tanis and was predeceased by her husband John Tanis. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at 11 AM at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, , Wayne, NJ. Cremation will be private. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday from 4-8 PM.
