Obituary of Louis Anthony Cosenza
Please share a memory of Louis to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Louis Anthony Cosenza, 93, of Ortley Beach, formerly of Paterson, passed away on May 24, 2016. He also enjoyed his winter home in Malabar, Florida. Mr. Cosenza was born in Newark.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, 8th Defense & AAA Artillery Battalion during WWII, in the Pacific and fought in Okinawa and Tarawa. Louis was the recipient a Silver Star for heroic duties in Okinawa and the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He recently participated in the Space Coast Honor Flight with 25 other WWII veterans.
He was a member of the American Legion, the Paterson Riverside Vets and All Wags A.C. For over 30 years, he was a printer for Premier Printers in Kearny, retiring at the age of 70.
Lou had a zest for life and enjoyed being with people. Everyone will miss his story telling, sense of humor, quirky jokes and beautiful smile; as his philosophy on life was, "It doesn't cost anything to smile." He enjoyed traveling and cruising with his daughter, Cathy, to Las Vegas, Alaska and many other destinations.
He was a loving husband, wonderful father and loyal friend. Beloved husband of the late Catherine B. (nee Funicelli) Cosenza. Loving father of Cathy Cosenza and the late Louanne Cosenza and Peter James Cosenza. Dear brother of Patsy Cosenza and the late Josephine Picataggio, Sara Zitka, John, James, Fred and Pasquale Cosenza. Caring uncle of many nieces and nephews.
