Obituary of Alphonse Trapanese

Alphonse Trapanese, "Al" age 92, of Toms River died Saturday, October 12, 2013 at home surrounded by his family. Alphonse was born January 20, 1921 in Paterson, NJ. He is the son of the late Joseph and the late Immaculata (Pisapia) Trapanese. He was a truck driver by occupation. Before joining the United States Army he spent 2 years with the Civilian Conservation Corps. During World War II he served in North Africa and Europe and received the Silver Star and numerous accommodations. He is survived by his wife of 67 years: Rose (DeLeo) Trapanese , his daughter: Lorraine Calabrese and her husband Peter of Vernon, NJ and his sons: Alphonse Trapanese and his wife Tamara of Jackson, NJ and Anthony Trapanese and his wife Sandra of Woodland Park, NJ. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Lisa Riccio and her husband Nick, David Gallaugher and his wife Cindy, Paul Gallaugher, Sheryl Pellegrino and her husband Frank, Sharon Tappen and her husband Charles and Anthony Trapanese and his wife Debbie and his sister Emma Appaluccio. He is also survived by 12 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sisters, Connie Messineo and Evelyn Trapanese, his brothers, James Trapanese, and Sam Trapanese and his son-in-law David Gallaugher. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 am on Wednesday, October 16 at Our Lady Of Pompeii R.C. Church, , Paterson, NJ. Burial will be in Brigadier General Wiliam C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ. Visiting hours will be Tuesday, October 15 from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital www.stjude.org
