Alphonse Castello, age 92, of North Haledon died Monday, November 1, 2010 at St. Joseph's Wayne Hospital of Wayne, NJ. Alphonse was born November 29, 1917 in Avelino, Italy . He is the son of the late Alphonse and the late Rose (Cuccinello) Castello. He came to the United States in 1919 and settled in Paterson, NJ before moving to North Haledon in 1955.
He served in the Army during World War II. He was a former parishioner of St. Gerard's R.C. Church in Paterson. He retired from International Harvester, Paterson, NJ in 1979 where he worked as a mechanic for many years.
He is survived by his wife: Rose (Carpino) Castello and two daughters: Geraldine Gamble of North Haledon, NJ and Linda Wardell of Fair Lawn, NJ. He also has two grandchildren; Lindsey Gamble and Eddie Wardell.
A graveside service will be held 12:30 pm on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at Garden Of Memories, Township of Washington, NJ.
