Obituary of Richard J. Meyers, Jr.

Richard J. Meyers, Jr., age 86, of Haledon died Friday, January 25, 2013 at Van Dyke Manor in Ridgewood, NJ. Richard was born May 13, 1926 in Paterson, NJ. He is the son of the late Richard and the late Teresa (Heisler) Meyers. He lived in Haledon his entire life. He served in the Army during World War II. He was employed by as a Machinist for G.T.E. until his retirement in 1990. He was the Past Commander of American Legion Post 267, a parishioner of St. Paul's R.C. Church, Prospect Park, NJ, an usher at St. Paul's R.C. Church and a member of the Haledon A.A.R.P.. He was predeceased by his wife Shirley Meyers (Bishop). He is survived by two daughters: Dianne Van Saun and her husband David of Green Brook, NJ and Linda Fitzner and her husband Clemens of Old Tappan, NJ; his grandchildren; David John Van Saun, James David Van Saun, Jonathan Fitzner, Jessica Fitzner and Joseph Fitzner. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30 am on Tuesday, January 29 at St. Paul's R.C. Church, 286 Haledon Avenue, Prospect Park, NJ with Msgr. Edward Kurtyka officiating. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa. Visiting hours will be Monday, January 28 from 2-4 & 6-8PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential, 8801 Stenton Avenue, Wyndmoor, PA 19038.
