Obituary of Shirley Meyers

Shirley Meyers, age 82, of Haledon died Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at Hospice Of New Jersey of Wayne, NJ. Shirley was born November 27, 1928 in Point Pleasant, NJ. She is the daughter of the late Alonzo and the late Genevieve (Zabriskie) Bishop. She lived in Elmwood Park, NJ before moving to Haledon 59 years ago. Before raising her family she worked at New Jersey Bell. She was a parishioner of St. Paul's R.C. Church, Prospect Park, NJ, past president of American Legion Post 267 Ladies Auxiliary, past President of St. Paul's School Parent's Guild and a member of AARP Haledon Chapter 2997. She is survived by her husband of 59 years: Richard John Meyers and two daughters: Dianne Van Saun and her husband David of Green Brook, NJ and Linda Fitzner and her husband Clemens of Old Tappan, NJ. She also has five grandchildren; David John Van Saun, James David Van Saun, Jonathan Fitzner, Jessica Fitzner and Joseph Fitzner. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 9:30 am on Saturday, March 5 at St. Paul's R.C. Church, 286 Haledon Avenue, Prospect Park, NJ. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa, NJ. Visiting hours will be Friday, March 4 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential, 8801 Stenton Avenue, Wyndmoor, PA 19038.
