Obituary of John R. Maes

John R. Maes, age 77, of Lakewood died Sunday, October 9, 2011 at Ocean County Medical Center in Brick, NJ. John was born April 3, 1934 in Paterson, NJ. He is the son of the late Rene and the late Viola (Belmont) Maes. He lived in Paterson most of his life before moving to Lakewood in 2000. He served in the Navy during the Korean war and was stationed on the USS New Jersey. He was employed by Textile Motors, Paterson, NJ as a truck driver. He then worked for the West Essex Board of Education as a custodian and when he moved to Lakewood he was a security guard for Marion Security. He was a Passaic County Constable and a member of the Riverside Vets. He is survived by his wife: Louise (Pepling) Maes his daughter: Lorri Tiernan and her husband Shawn of Jackson, NJ and his son: John Maes and his wife Charity of Wantage, NJ. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Alicia Maes, Corey Tiernan and Kaitlyn Tiernan and a great granddaughter, Kaylee. He was predeceased by his sister, Joan Maes. The funeral will be held 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 12 at DeLuccia - Lozito Funeral Home, 265 Belmont Avenue, Haledon, NJ. Entombment will be in Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa, NJ. Visiting hours will be Wednesday, October 12 from 11am - 2pm.
