Obituary of Ignatius J. Kazella

Dr. Ignatius J Kazella of Rockaway Township, NJ, previously of North Haledon, NJ, died early Friday morning, on June 28, 2013, at the age of 78 surrounded by his family. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 7, 2013 at 12:30 pm, at St. Stephen of Hungary Roman Catholic Church, 223 Third Street, Passaic, NJ. Following the service, there will be a Repast at the church hall where you can also pay your respects.
Dr. Kazella was born in Tat, Hungary on July 19, 1934 to Ignac Kazella and Terez Mechler. He was an active participant of the Hungarian Revolution, escaped communism and fled to America by himself in 1956. He attended Dartmouth College and graduated at Fairleigh Dickinson University with a B.S. degree in Chemistry as well as a Dental Degree (D.D.S). Dr. Kazella had a dental practice in North Haledon for 39 years. He was extremely active in the Hungarian Community and had organized demonstrations in Washington DC, NYC and Ottawa, Canada for the rights of Hungarians in Slovakia and Romania. He was a member of the Hungarian Communion of Friends; the American Hungarian Society; and the Holy Name Society of St. Stephen. Dr. Kazella was a soccer coach for the North Haledon Recreation Department.
Dr. Kazella is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Eva; sons: Stephen, Charles, Peter and Andrew. Stephen and his wife Ildi and children Olivia and Travis of Wilmington, NC; Charles and his wife Lindsey of Hamburg, NJ; Peter and his wife Erin and children Jack, Ryan, Alice and Nora of Randolph, NJ; Andrew and his wife Colleen and children Justin, Madison, Ethan, Edmond, Vincent, and Colin of Waldwick, NJ. He is survived by his brother Tibor Kazella and his wife Erzsi and children Zsolt and Erika of Budapest, Hungary. Survived by his brother-in- law Albert Suchy and his wife Ursula of Warwick, NY and children Robert and Renee. Also survived by numerous relatives in Hungary as well as his cousins Drs. Ferenc Mechler in NYC and Hungary; Dr. Laszlo Mechler in Belgium.
