Our deepest condolences to the Donovan family. In 1979 a young family came to Arlington VA on vacation and found themselves unable to return home to Iran due to religious persecution following the revolution.. During the upcoming years of trials and tribulations the entire Donovan family with grandpa Ed at the lead opened their arms and hearts to us. During this time when by all means most Americans were not accepting.......... this kindness was something we clung on to desperately. Grandpa's generosity and love turned those years into ones that we all look back on with smiles rather than tears. I still personally boast how my Grandpa ( as he allowed us to truly feel like his grandchildren} opened his beautiful Long Island house to us and gave a young struggling family a vacation others could only dream of. This is just one example , but there are millions more that show not only his great generosity but how this trait is engrained in every member of the Donovan family which was evident when Uncle Mike taught me how to fly-cast, a memory I hold very dear. The Donovan family is a rare find and we all consider ourselves blessed for having had your love and support. I'm sure the younger generation is wondering what I'm referring to, just know your Grandfather was the silver lining on a dark period in my family's life and I'm sure in many other families lives as well. He will be surely missed.
