Obituary of Daniel C. Cappetta

Please share a memory of Daniel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Daniel C. Cappetta ("Poppa"), 93, of Wayne, NJ originally from Paterson, joined his beloved wife, Josephine (nee Pernice), on December 30, 2010. Danny was born on August 15, 1917 in Lodi, New Jersey, the only son of the late Reverend Rafael ("Harry") Cappetta and Angelina Cappetta. Blessed by the love of his sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many extended family and friends, Danny was renowned for his famous Italian home-cooking, especially his ravioli and gnocchi's. Danny touched many hearts with his traveling rolling pin and dough board. Danny's home was always a gathering place for everyone, as he cooked for a myriad of people who were always enormously entertained by his stories along with his epicurean delights! Danny commanded his kitchen and his audiences. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, Danny was a longtime member of the ILGWU. Danny pioneered and was a staunch advocate for improvement in working conditions and benefits. In the forty years he spent in the garment industry, one of his memories was giving an ILGWU endorsement speech for Hubert Humphrey in Atlantic City. Danny loved his politics and he always read a daily passage from his Bible. He is survived by his two sons, Donald C. Cappetta and his wife Brenda of Hershey, PA., and Angelo Frank Cappetta and his wife April of Lincoln Park, N.J., grandchildren Danielle and Rob Williams, Tracy and Pete Rosky, Suzanne and Bert Deutsch, Pamela Cappetta-Brice and Jon Brice, Jennifer Gardner, Glen Cappetta, and 9 great grandchildren: Thomas, Robbie, Jack, Nikki, Dylan, Michael Gunther, Ashley, Jessica, and Giovanni. Funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 5, at 10:30 A.M. at DeLuccia-Lozito Funeral Home, 265 Belmont Avenue, Haledon, New Jersey, with interment at Crest Haven Memorial Park. Viewing from 4 to 8 P.M. on Tuesday, January 4.
